Fidget Cube vs Fidget Pen
Cube here means a hand-held body with touch controls on its faces, not a folding paper cube or a hinged 3D model. Pen here means a writing instrument with a touch feature or mechanism. List the controls on the actual items before comparing variety or writing use.
This is a checklist for comparing physical formats, using the definitions below. It is not a test of identified samples. Dimensions, materials, sound, comfort and suitability need evidence for each exact model. No format is assigned a health benefit or approved for a school or workplace here.

You want several distinct actions
List and try each documented control on both items. Count distinct actions, not faces or marketing names.
You need a writing instrument
Verify the pen's writing configuration, refill and actual performance. Cube controls do not establish a writing function.
You need to stop quickly
Observe how each complete action is stopped and the item put aside before the next task.
Compare the actual controls.
Controls

- Identify the actual buttons, rollers, switches, surfaces or other controls and what each does.
- Pen
- Identify the writing action and added controls separately. Do not assume a pen has fewer actions than every cube.
Sound per action
- Control cube
- Check each control and setting the cube down, under the same documented conditions.
- Pen
- Check added controls, tip retraction or cap handling, and setting the pen down. Do not rate the whole item from one control.
Task transition

- Record any turning or repositioning needed to switch controls and the steps to put the item aside.
- Pen
- Record how to switch from the added action to writing in the maker's complete configuration.
Carry

- Measure the complete body including protruding controls and any case.
- Pen
- Measure the protected writing configuration and any case; account for detachable parts.
Check before drawing a conclusion.
Cube checks
- Controls that look alike may do different things; record each action on the named sample.
- Do not transfer a control-cube assessment to an articulated folding cube.
Pen checks
- Check writing separately from the added mechanism; neither result proves the other.
- A pen shape is not evidence that an item is unobtrusive or appropriate in a meeting.
