FINDYOURFIDGET / A CONTROLLED FIRST SPIN Guide revision: learn-2026-09-25 Reference: MD Engineering Torqbar ยท original two-arm titanium model (2016 review) Source-based explanation, not our physical demonstration. The two-pad, two-arm reference is the original Torqbar described in a 2016 hands-on review. Other revisions, exposed bearings, powered toys and spinners without matching pads need their own instructions. Before trying: identify the exact model and opposing center pads. Start with an intact object, a clear surface, and the body fully still. Do not use loose or damaged parts. Follow the maker's age guidance. Your model: ____________________ Date: ____________________ 1. Hold the two center pads Place your thumb on one center pad and a fingertip on the pad directly opposite it. Hold the pads, not the outer arms. Keep the spinner low over a clear surface. Look for: Both center pads stay between your fingers; the outer body has room to move. If it does not work: Before starting, turn the body slowly with your free hand. If it touches the gripping fingers, reposition those fingers on the pads while the body is still. Observed: [ ] Not tried [ ] Matched [ ] Needs another look What happened: ____________________________________________ 2. Give one arm a small sideways push Keep the center grip. With a finger of your other hand, push the side of an outer arm around the center, then move that finger away. Begin gently; this is not a speed or spin-time challenge. Look for: The outer arms turn around the held center while your starting finger is clear. If it does not work: Pressing down on the face can trap the moving body. Let it stop and move the starting contact to the side of an arm before trying again. Observed: [ ] Not tried [ ] Matched [ ] Needs another look What happened: ____________________________________________ 3. Keep the rotating path clear Keep the same grip and hold your other fingers away from the circle swept by the arms. Leave space above the surface; do not set down a moving spinner. Look for: The arms pass your hand without brushing a finger, clothing or the desk. If it does not work: A brush or catch is a reason to stop and inspect the grip. It does not by itself diagnose a bearing problem. Do not solve contact by pushing harder. Observed: [ ] Not tried [ ] Matched [ ] Needs another look What happened: ____________________________________________ 4. Let it stop before changing your grip Keep holding the center pads and stop adding pushes. Let the outer body slow down completely. Once the arms are still, place the spinner on the surface and release it. Look for: The body is visibly still before you put it down or change hands. If it does not work: If it is still moving, wait. This beginner sequence does not ask you to grab a moving arm, balance on one finger or toss the spinner. Observed: [ ] Not tried [ ] Matched [ ] Needs another look What happened: ____________________________________________ Finish: wait until fully still, then set down. A controlled start and finish is the aim; there is no spin-time target. If contact continues after a stopped grip adjustment, pause and record the exact symptom. Do not improvise a repair.
